Osberton International Horse and Driving Trials goes purple for Riders Minds

This September Osberton International Horse & Driving Trials will turn purple in support of BEDE Event’s annual charity, Riders Minds.

Friday 29th September will host a range of additional initiatives aimed at raising increased funds for the charity that supports the mental health and well-being of all horse riders, drivers, and equestrians.

The Riders Minds Quiz will take place on Friday evening, from 6.30pm, and offers a £100 bar tab, courtesy of British Polo Gin, for the winning team.  Tickets are £10 per team with all proceeds going to the charity.  Purple themed cocktails will be on offer throughout the evening, with a donation for every drink sold going to Riders Minds.

Following the conclusion of the charity quiz a Robbie Williams Tribute act will perform live to enable eventers, drivers, and their connections to party to the early hours. Riders and attendees are also encouraged to wear something purple during the Friday of the event, to help raise awareness of the charities work.

Riders Minds was formed in 2019, the brainchild of 5* event rider Matt Wright and his wife Victoria, Director of Caunton Manor Stud. Matt openly shared his mental ill-health struggles, regularly blogging about his experiences to raise mental health awareness and understanding within the eventing community.

His courageous openness encouraged other riders to come forward and Victoria and Matt quickly recognised the need for a resource of some kind, that could offer mental health and well-being support, guidance, and information for all riders.

Riders Minds now offers a freely available online resource dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of all riders, drivers, and equestrians.  They strive to remove the stigma of speaking up, out, or about mental health matters amongst equestrians.
