BHS Accredited Coach, Caroline Casburn recently held a cross country clinic at Blackwater Farm, Great Witchingham courtesy of David Sayer, to raise money for Riders Minds.
The day was a huge success, raising a fantastic £580 thanks to the generosity of David Sayer for providing the venue, and Caroline for giving up her time.
Claire Rigler attended the day with her 14 year old daughter Lucy and had this to say –
It was all Caroline’s initiative as she wanted to raise awareness and do her bit to raise money & awareness for Riders Minds. The clinic was open for riders of all abilities in groups no larger than four. It was an absolutely fantastic start to the season. Matthew Wright used to compete at Blackwater Farm, Great Witchingham and loved everything about the big, bold and superb track there.
|Great Witchingham also kindly offered hire of their full XC course free of charge, meaning 100% of the money generated from this clinic went solely to Riders Minds, in memory of Matthew Wright.|
Experienced trainer, Caroline Casburn has produced and competed horses both in UK and Internationally. With placings at all levels, including 5* Badminton and 5* Burghley. Caroline has represented Great Britain on the senior eventing teams and Alice, her daughter was also there schooling some of her best horses. Alice Casburn is so approachable and such a wonderful role model for daughters like mine, who are so in awe of her. Alice, not only is an amazing horsewoman, she is relatable, so down to earth, incredibly friendly and on Team GB.
What I loved most about the clinic and Caroline’s training and the way Alice rode her top horses, was that it was all about the horse and gaining trust and confidence - ‘Why jump the bigger fence again, to make you feel good? Instead jump the smaller one, so you don’t over face your horse but instead build his/her confidence.’
|The clinic was exceptional and Caroline coached there all day for absolutely no monetary reward. The training and the venue were spectacular. Blackwater Farm at Great Witchingham is a fantastic venue, the BWF team are so welcoming to all. The ground is always incredible. The fences are big, bold and there is so much variety.|
Riders Minds would like to say a huge thank you to Caroline, David, the team at Blackwater Farm, all of the riders who supported the day, and to Shelley G Photography for some fabulous images.
